Fits 2011 Ford Expedition

The motor was exactly what I needed to fix the electric footpeg on my 2011 Ford Expedition. Suitable for passenger side (right). $98 was a lot better when the dealer offered over $2000 to replace the entire footpeg. Here are a few tips/tricks I came up with: First, turn off the power to the motor. Put some towels/blanket under the footboard and remove everything. Each hinge has 4 screws, 2 on the bottom and 2 on the back. There are 3 spacers/spacers on the old motor that you will need to remove and use with this new motor. Mine got stuck there and ended up having to use a decent amount of WD40 and channel locks to get it loose. I removed the footpegs in the down/outer position. When you pull the old motor out of the hinge there is a notch on the silver part of the hinge. Pay attention to the orientation of this notch. If you like me, the new motor had the notch in the footrest up/closed position, but my old motor was in the down/out position. The easiest way to fix this is to put the motor on something stable (I used an overturned bucket), close the car door (if it's open), connect the power connector from the new motor to the car and the door to open. The notch rotates and is in the down/out position. Unplug the power cord before closing the door, then reinstall everything. With the footpegs and motor removed, spray a liberal amount of lube on all of the hinges and rock them back and forth. From what I can find online a silicone based lube is recommended. I used PB garage door lube which worked well. Leave it on for a while, work it back and forth a little more, spray a little more and give it some time. Probably the only downside to this new engine is that the wiring harness on the engine was too short. It has plastic fasteners that go into two holes on the hinge, but the wires were too short and it didn't reach. I just tied it up and everything was fine. The only thing I can't talk about yet is durability, so we'll see. Even if it only lasts a few years, for the price it's a lot better than a dealer repair.
