Review on Shutters Exterior Shutter Hardware Strongest by Pat Peoples

Buy more than you really need

Replaced existing bolts on 10 shutters (six bolts per shutter) with these and what a disappointing journey the whole process has been. First of all, don't expect them to fit into existing holes of previous spikes. You will likely need to re-drill holes or drill existing holes to accommodate these spikes. Otherwise you'll burn through a few of these because they flex a little stiff if the hole doesn't exactly match the size of the mandrel. Even then they will bend. They feel solid in the hand, but as soon as you put pressure on them or hit them with a hammer, they bend. Luckily, not only are they cheaply made, but they're also quite cheap in price. So order more than you need. I ended up having to reuse some of the original spikes that weren't too tall when removed to cover up some of the new spikes that were bent when inserted. If you need 60, order at least 80.
