status: summer 2015 I had it for about 3 years, but used it very rarely. I've recently had to solder very large copper foil inductors onto PCBs with very large copper areas and was scratching my head on how to get this to work. Turns out I had no reason. At 720 degrees, he soldered the inductor to the circuit board with the supplied broad iron tip as easily as soldering a small resistor to the circuit board. I attached the foil with a couple of hemostatic clips, applied heat and solder, and I was done in minutes. IMPRESSIVE! Great kit for the home user. Easily handles small and large soldering jobs with the right soldering tips. Good build quality. A minor note is that the soldering sponge is small and doesn't do as well with a mount as the rest of the unit. After years of switching back and forth between a triggered soldering gun and a soldering pin, I was very pleased. Do you know how many home appliances you buy are still of poor quality no matter how much money you spend on them? This unit is not like that. You'll feel like you're getting value for money, and it's becoming such a dependable part of your job that you won't even think about it unless your job requires changing soldering tips, which it doesn't is difficult.
