I am a retired physical therapist. In my 30 year career I have prescribed compression stockings hundreds of times to treat vascular, neurological, orthopedic and burn conditions. I am also a patient and have relied on these stockings for 10 years. This review is independent. I receive no financial benefits from any source associated with these products. I do this solely for the public good. All those knee high stockings. Over-the-knee boots are always better, but patient compliance is terrible. I never wanted to wear them, so I couldn't ask the patients to wear them. They all have a compression of 20-30 mmHg, although the listings describe them as somewhere between "moderate" and "super tight". Any product with less can be good for comfort or cosmetics, but will do little as a therapeutic intervention. REVIEWS & OBSERVATIONS:1 JOBST closed toe knee compression stockings for men, durable men's legwear for all-day comfort with anti-odor technology. .Gold standard but like gold very expensive. Best fit and functionality. Best quality. Very simple in appearance. You have to "get up" once a day. No loss of function after 10 uses and washes.2 FUTURO men's recovery socks, tight compression, above the calf. Definitely #2. A quarter of the cost of Jobst. Good fit and functionality. Good quality. No need for daily elevators. Looks better than Jobst. Excellent wear resistance. I have used 3 pairs continuously for a year in the clinic and have not noticed any loss of function. My neuropathic symptoms disappeared within a few weeks of use. Interestingly, the Revain rankings that ranked Physix first below did not include Jobst or Futuro.3 GO2SOCKS compression stockings for men, women, nurses, runners, medical stockings, maternity travel. Inexpensive. Can cause discomfort if not worn optimally, but provides good therapeutic compression. Good quality and "childlike" appearance. No daily ups and downs. No loss of function within 10 uses. 4 models AMES WALKER AW 120 125 150 compression knee socks. Inexpensive (all compared to Jobst). Great compression but painful after a few hours despite adjusting the fit. Good quality. Looks like plastic socks. No daily ups and downs. No loss of function after 10 uses. 5 PHYSIX Gear compression socks for women and men with a graduated athletic fit for running, breastfeeding, calf injuries, air travel and pregnancy during pregnancy. Definitely NOT #1. Inexpensive. Good fit but not therapeutic compression. A pleasant look that undoubtedly explains their popularity thanks to the ease of putting them on. No daily ups and downs. They give less compression after each wash. I can't recommend it as a doctor because of its ineffectiveness.6 COPPER compression stockings for women and men.Inexpensive. Poor fit and few features. Low quality. Ok looks. Rise N/A as they don't cover the calf when first put on. They get looser with every wash and are no better than ordinary socks. Not recommended.
