This item was a waste of money. My dog is a really good swimmer, but we were going on a multi-day canoe trip so I wanted to protect her. I used the size chart and measured my dog and the vest didn't fit me at all so I had to order a size up. Although I managed to fit it around the trunk, it was too long and didn't fit properly. When my dog took him into the river, he struggled most with the swim, pushing him down more than keeping him afloat. In the end we decided it was more dangerous to leave him alone than to allow him to swim ashore on his own if we capsized. I laid the vest out to dry and everything inside rolled up so we couldn't even use it if we wanted to. A complete garbage.
