So the "brackets" that hold the shelves in place have a little protrusion on the inside. If you slide them until they "snap" onto the bars, they stay together (each in 2 pieces) until you slide the shelves down. The rods have small round indentations about every 2 inches. I UNDERSTOOD THIS FOREVER TO UNDERSTAND THIS. The instructions don't mention this. That could have saved me about 30-45 minutes. Very dumb. for the price (I paid $50). I would rather buy 2 of these than pay more for the longer and larger one. I ended up placing it in a different spot than I originally planned because it's a bit larger with my Kitchen Aid mixer. than I expected but it will work fine. I'm glad I bought it.
