I have used Mylar, Wetstones and many other grits over the years but these are my favorites. Remember, take it slow and easy - just do a little bit then stop and check, use 10k and then smooth 14k. Smoothing doesn't take long either, so check your work little by little. Wash the pen thoroughly and be careful not to get sand or abrasive particles where you are working to avoid damaging phones or other pens. Learn from cheap nibs and know that gold and palladium are MUCH softer. Each pen tip has an iridium coating - if you don't want to take it off, find a pen expert to teach or guide you if necessary.
