Review on Manfrotto Befree Live MVKBFRT-LIVEUS Twist Tripod with Video Head, Compact, Aluminium, Black by Kevin Hawkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good tripod, poor quality moving head

The overall design, look, feel and functionality of the tripod is good and affordable. There are no objections in this regard. But the liquid head is an absolute joke. I haven't had any issues with broken parts as others have noted, but having read other reviews on this aspect of this product I have been very careful with tightening and handling the set screws on the fluid head so I may be in luck respect. I suspect that those who haven't had any problems or discomfort with the fluid head are using fairly light equipment. Maybe 2 pounds or less. I, on the other hand, have a Sony HXR-MC2500 Pro camcorder, which weighs just over 7 pounds and I was deeply annoyed at the lack of support offered by the fluid head. As long as the camera is in a flat horizontal position and the screws are properly tightened, there aren't any major problems. But tilt the camera up or down a bit and be prepared for disaster. I had to catch the camera a few times fearing the tripod would tip toward the ground because the fluid head wouldn't support the weight. Conclusion if you decide to buy this tripod product; You will not be disappointed. But if you think you are getting a quality liquid head, I would advise you not to have such high expectations or you will be very disappointed. I will buy a good professional fluid head to replace the head. the garbage that came with it; which would add more $$$ to the initial investment, which was clearly not the idea, which is what I meant. So as a tip; You should keep these types of numbers in mind before purchasing this product. If you have a camera that's fairly light (maybe around 2 pounds or less) you'll probably be fine. In general, I am satisfied with the "tripod". But I'd happily pay less for this product if I could buy a tripod without the crappy liquid head.
