This beer roaster is amazing. We have a $100 skewer that we rarely use because it takes up a lot of counter space and is too difficult to clean. This simple device replaced a bulky and inconvenient machine. Now we cook a big chicken dinner every weekend. When we first used a beer roaster, we tried Miller Genuine Draft Mild Beer. The chicken came out raw but tasteless. Through trial and error, we found the perfect recipe. We choose beer with great taste. We currently prefer dark beers from Sam Adams like Black Lager or Brown Ale. Then add a large spoonful of honey. Be sure to rinse the chicken and pat dry inside and out with paper towels. We then apply a dry grater to the outside of the chicken (any good quality grater you can buy at the grocery store will do). A 6 pound chicken is cooked at 375 degrees for about 2 hours. After cooking, leave the dish for about 10 minutes to allow the juice to settle. Everyone loves the taste. There are never leftovers. It's so much better than those lousy pre-cooked chickens at the grocery store. The beer roaster is the best kitchen appliance we have ever bought.
