I bought this to connect my phone to the FM transmitter in my car to listen to MP3s and podcasts. I've tried several cheaper cable models over the years so I decided to try this more expensive fancy cable with great reviews. It lasted a year. I have cheaper cables that last much longer than this one. And I would like to point out that it is never stretched, kicked or otherwise abused in any way. I only drive a few times a week (2-3 days for short business trips). It wraps around my shift knob for secure storage. Suddenly, the end that is connected to the phone starts to drop out and disconnect, and it gets worse. I think I will buy cheap cables again.
