in commercial construction over the years, I've installed dozens of these in washrooms etc. They are mainly used to hold the plain end of a short hose so it doesn't end up in the bottom of the sink with a mop. I use mine in a similar way. I placed the "sprocket" on the outer hose bib so I have a garden hose on one side of the "sprocket" and 3 feet. Hose, on the other hand, the "hose holder" keeps the short hose off the ground and off the dirt. It's good to have a short hose for filling watering cans, car wash buckets, dog harnesses, etc. I use "short hose" more often than a garden hose! In addition, stainless steel stands up to the elements without rusting.
