Arbitrarily slow external components

Not smooth for reading/playing Blu-ray. Pioneer appears to have capped the BD's read speed to prevent copying. Regardless of whether this is true or not, the truth is that this drive only reads BD at 2x speed, while the old drives I own can do it at 8x speed. I wanted to like it for its compact profile and versatility, but eventually returned it when I found poor read speeds. It's also useless as a UHD BD reader if it can't seem to play without an Intel iGPU, nor can it be configured to copy to play files.
