The tip of the curling iron needs to stay firmly in place so you can hold the end while you curl hair that has fallen out after a few days. He will not return and will not drag out, so he is always free. If the end comes loose, the brush strips will fall off as well. Very poorly built. Most curling irons have a timer that turns the iron off after about an hour, but it doesn't have an auto shutoff. So if you forget to turn it off before leaving home, it will stay hot all the time. Can be a fire hazard. It is poorly made and definitely not worth the money. I definitely do not recommend it.
