There are a few issues with this. The biggest is that it is both melted and switched by ground waiting for the engine to fire. That means the Plus is always powered up to the light and always finding its bottom, which is what happens when the hood opens and the spring-loaded pin hits the ground. It's pretty F'ed, but it's even worse for a grounded backup. If he finds the ground to the fuse, he will not turn off the fuse and with a minimum of problems will not turn it off, and at worst the car will light up and say goodbye. This is easily fixed with minimal knowledge and skill by cutting a fuse and soldering it to the positive wire. The wire will still be live, but at least the fuse will blow if a short occurs. I went one step further and turned on the manual switch, which makes more sense anyway because you don't want the lights to be on every time you open the hood. All in all, this is a pretty good light for the price. The double sided tape appears to be quite strong although time will tell. The light itself is quite bright. Only this light is on in my photo and the engine bay looks daytime.
