Review on Pebeo Vitrea 160: Enhance Glass Painting with 45 ml Glass Paint Thinner by Nikki Green

It is easy to work with and produces a deep black

Stained glass windows need small details. I've tried this marker and the Pebeo marker, both produce a nice glossy black. While the marker was comfortable to use, the ink is thinner so it doesn't cover and the nib is about as wide as a magic marker so it doesn't make the fine lines I want. This paint is thick enough to draw very sharp lines with an extra fine brush and does not bleed. Needing very precise detail beyond my drawing skills, I used a vinyl stencil by trial and error. Taking it off immediately after painting (within a minute) gave me softer lines, taking it off after about an hour removed most of the paint, and patiently waiting for it to dry completely the next day gave me crisp detail. I could scrape off every tiny bleed with the edge of a sharp knife. I cleaned the glass with alcohol before painting and in testing when I etched the glass for the first time the rough surface seemed to give the best grip. I love that you can just clean your brushes with water and bake them in your home oven to make them permanent.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • poorly thought out
