If you have never used them, buy extra ones. 'Cause you screw it up

Well, when done right, barrel hinges are great. But if the setup isn't even a little less than perfect, they suck. And they'll probably snap, or break your wood, or look like shit. IMPORTANT NOTE: They are not 8mm in diameter. They are closer to 8.5mm. This is a perfect example of what I mean. The hole you drill must be EXACTLY the right size or it won't go through smoothly. Not a thousandth less, but too big makes them float quickly. Use calipers. Buy scrap test additionally. If this is your first experience with them, you'll screw up a few and probably break a few. You may have to start your project from scratch.
