Just received this unit, exactly as described. I was happy to confirm that even without putting the camera into video mode, pressing the video start/stop button did just that. I leave my camera remote so this works whenever I need it after turning on my camera. Hopefully not when someone else is in range and using a similar remote on their camera. The trigger and trigger buttons work smoothly and consistently. My only concern is that as instructed, I remove the battery when the device is not in use and that this may indicate continuous power draw. In this case, an automatic sleep mode or a physical on/off switch is preferable to removing the battery.
