This is a great and inexpensive way to carry something on the roof from time to time. Soft blocks are a good alternative to rails. You don't want to leave them there all the time as the straps run inside and you don't want them hanging there all the time. But for infrequent use, it is better to have them on hand. Comes with rope and extra straps which are really helpful. There are two straps that can be attached to the edge of a door or trunk to provide additional attachment points. The two straps that you attach to the chassis bolts under the hood are a great addition. This way you can tie the front so the wind can't lift the front of what you're wearing. We got a large table up on the roof in an hour and a half, mostly on the freeway, and had no problems at all.
