Don't waste your money on this shit. They don't work as advertised and Alexa isn't responding. If you call Revain because Alexa isn't working, you'll be prompted to call First Alert. If you call First Alert because Alexa isn't working, you'll be prompted to call Revain. #frustrations. I wish I had ever bought them. 1) my Kidde detectors are 9 years old 2. 2 existing Kidde detectors no longer work 3. Many of my devices are automated with Samsung SmartThings and Alexa actually only bought 1 to see if I liked it. So far I'm doing it, but it could be better - I hope your next version(s) will improve. I installed Safe & Sound on the first floor of my house in the central hallway. From here it's supposed to serve Alexa from anywhere on the ground floor and be heard when Alexa answers. It will replace the Echo (Gen1) I currently have in my living room. Installation was very easy. Here are some tips: 1. If you already have a wired detector: A. Download the OneLink app. Follow the step-by-step installation and setup instructions. B. If your device is connected to a 5G WiFi network, please switch it back to 2.5G before launching the app. B. Remove and use OneLink adapters (if available). C. Loosen the screws enough to remove the old detector bracket. Don't throw them away entirely. Installation and setup was actually pretty easy - the app will tell you all about it - even setting up Alexa. I think I'll keep it, but I'd like to point out a couple of downsides: 1. The speaker is an upgraded speaker from other Revain Alexa-enabled devices. Has a rich bass. For music, however, it gets lost in the larger space. The speaker is not very loud and distorts at "volume 10". In short, I will not use something like this to replace my Apple Homepods.2. OneLink Safe & Sound is only compatible with Apple Home. Unfortunately, the Apple Home is the least compatible with other automation devices. For example, my Philips Hue bulbs are Apple Home compatible, but KwikSet locks and GE bulbs are not. So I installed a Samsung SmartThings hub as the central point for all my home automation; where I can create scenes and trigger events based on time of day, sunrise/sunset, or device actions that trigger others. OneLink Safe & Sound is not currently compatible with Samsung SmartThings. As it is compatible with other wired detectors I will try enabling the SmartThings compatible FirstAlert smart detector to see if that fixes this deficiency. Keep for updates. TO UPDATE. If you have other FirstAlert OneLink devices installed and expect them to tell you where fire/carbon monoxide is found, they say they do, but they don't. Actually I contacted FirstAlert about this and they were very nice - they opened a ticket on the issue - they said it was known. but then quickly closed the ticket without permission. 1 star deduction for this update; no notification of the number when they advertised it; coupled with a lack of effective customer service
