The bass is not excessive yet powerful, and the overall sound is closer to smooth than the "classic" JBL sound. There's a lot of headroom; I usually listen at around 80%. High-quality headphones are available. Acquired because of its attractive appearance. Well. Also, the green variant's hue. Almost daily, in fact. The landing is gentle and safe. They don't simply vanish into thin air. I shortened the sound guide by replacing the ear cushions with tougher, rounder ones, but otherwise the factory cushions are fine. Buy with confidence, I say ;)
