Review on πŸ“» Cobra HHRT50 Road Trip CB Radio - Emergency Radio & Travel Essentials, 2-Way Handheld Black Radio with Rooftop Magnet Mount Antenna, NOAA Channels, Dual Watch & 40 Channel Access by Mark Gardner

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good radio but some flaws

The radio works well but the "Cobra" antenna that comes with the radio is out of tune according to the antenna analyzer and tuned to about 27.6MHz above the frequency 40 channel . I also ran a field strength test on this short cobra antenna attached to this radio. The field strength on channel 40 is three times the field strength on channel 1. I tried my home made 3 inch tunable CB antenna tuned to channel 19 and my home made 3 inch CB antenna radiates better than the Cobra antenna supplied with this radio. I believe the load coil in this Cobra antenna has insufficient turns which can result in the antenna being tuned over channel 40 and you could run this radio with an untuned Cobra antenna on the antenna impedance mismatch at the red SWR- Burn level above 3. So it's better to find another CB antenna that is actually tuned to CB frequencies at least 1 foot long and will work with this Cobra CB handset.

Pros
  • Not a bad job
Cons
  • There are nuances
