Not what I thought.

I've been using this for a few days while driving on the interstate. The weather radio function works normally; one of the five channels becomes free. The CB radio will not pick up a channel even if you use a roof antenna. One day I heard someone speaking softly at a rest stop. I know some readers will say this is user error, but my husband is a former Army liaison and knows what he's doing. I would abandon this model and move on to something else.

Everything you want from CB without SSB

I use this as a mobile device in conjunction with a Little Wil antenna, PL-259 BNC adapter and Cobra Lapel Speaker Mic. I didn't want to mount the CB in my truck so I got it and it fits in my center console when I'm not using it. However, the included magnetic antenna is junk, so I bought Little Wil. The power saving mode is 1W and works great when using the ruler. The weather channels are nice to have and sound great. Because it's portable, I take it home when the weather is bad to use as a…

Brand new - and DEFECTIVE!

To I received this CB radio brand new and tried it from the start. The radio has a problem. A big problem. And that means every time I press the PTT button (which you use to talk to someone on the other side) CB is reloaded. EVERY TIME. And it's not with batteries. Oh ho ho, no. That's it when the radio is turned to FULL POWER! I can't even imagine how that would work with single batteries! Sad to see my $100 purchase go to waste and my dollars wasted on something so new and DEFECTIVE. I've…

Works great, decent range with included magnetic antenna

Works great on the Autobahn. No problem. Radio is clean. I don't like putting a 9 AA battery in it because nobody sells 9 MIMH in a pack, you have to get another pack and leave 3, but other than that it's a great radio. I get about a mile and a half of confidence in the antenna judging where the talk zones are coming from, so it's not even bad. Of course, you can use longer antennas or another brand, but the one that comes with it will work. Weather bands also work here in Kentucky. Keep in…

Good radio but some flaws

The radio works well but the "Cobra" antenna that comes with the radio is out of tune according to the antenna analyzer and tuned to about 27.6MHz above the frequency 40 channel . I also ran a field strength test on this short cobra antenna attached to this radio. The field strength on channel 40 is three times the field strength on channel 1. I tried my home made 3 inch tunable CB antenna tuned to channel 19 and my home made 3 inch CB antenna radiates better than the Cobra antenna supplied…

Pros
  • Not a bad job
Cons
  • There are nuances

I bought a charger for my Cobra WSXT 50 radio, it was supposed to charge batteries. While the batteries were in the box. First, they sent me a wall outlet charger. In my house to break into the car power socket. I don't know anyone who would use this feature. The radios are designed for outdoor use. So we sent message to "DC POWER" seller. telling them they sent the wrong item. We returned it. and get what we're told. There was a necessary adapter for charging. My batteries while they were on…

Very good radio on CB radios and scanners

Works well with an external antenna on my van. The rubber ducky antenna doesn't have a very good signal because it's in the car. And the radio puts out 4W when plugged in, but it's not as powerful when running on battery (sometimes). It depends on what kind of batteries you use and how much charge you have left in them. The display on the radio shows you how many watts you are spending. The maximum output power of this radio is 4W, which is standard on all legal CB radios. It is a smaller and…
