Review on Hitachi TPS0006 Throttle Position Sensor by Christopher Wells

OEM part for 2004 Nissan Xterra XE v6

OEM part for 2004 Nissan Xterra XE v6 4x4 although Revain says it doesn't fit. This is a direct replacement. Backstory for DIYers: Months before failure, the throttle sticks randomly and then stutters before the RPM increases, but not CEL (Check Engine Light). Up to this point, the gas mileage was appalling. . There are no store codes or other signs of a problem. At idle, the truck randomly revved up. Again no saved codes. The CEL was slowly moving down the road, working and containing the following codes: P0733, P0734, P0121. P0733 and P0734 are related to the transmission. P0121 is linked to this sensor. I ordered and installed this part and tried to set it up as a newbie could. Immediately after CEL trips and code P0122 is stored. Now the transmission will slip between 2-3 and the initial idle is high until it warms up and drops to the target 750 rpm rpm. I wasn't sure if bad luck could be failing in two at the same time with the transmission or it was related to this sensor as it sends signals to the ECM when to change gears. Was hoping for a sensor as the transmission was fine just before that, but in my head P0733/P0734 also triggered. Brought to the dealer thinking they would give the Xterra last rites; However, once the TPS was properly installed, all issues were immediately resolved, including transmission slippage. It has only been a few days but the RPM spikes seem to have stopped which was the issue that led to the P0121 code. Bottom line, a pretty important part that interacts with the ECM/Transmission. Hope this helps someone.
