If you think your transmission is failing, check your TPS

On a 2000 Nissan Xterra. I thought I was having transmission issues, but live data showed that the throttle position sensor was producing no output, so the computer didn't know when to shift into which gear. If you decide to do it yourself, note that you will need to check the voltage to reset it. It's not that hard if you have a gauge and can watch YouTube videos on it, but if you don't, your computer will get incorrect shift and fuel trim data.

It should have been bad from the start

Installed and driven for more than a year without realizing that he had problems with overclocking. Out of the box it should have been bad. I recently replaced it and the truck immediately improved acceleration and increased power under load e.g. B. when towing a trailer. Now I'm sure the warranty has expired - my fault for not fixing the reasons why the truck isn't working as usual. It was drivable, but this switch caused problems from the day it was installed.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • There are doubts

That fixed it. Started getting incorrect gear ratio codes and knock sensor codes. A few hundred bucks later, the new solenoids in the transmission and new knock sensor were still throwing trouble codes. Did some googling and found that a possible bad TPS can cause the same symptoms. Well, after replacing it three weeks ago, the error code hasn't come back since. 2004 Xterra car.

maybe not good for sensors

I think it works I can finally get the machine to work I didn't think there was a problem as the part was new and the machine works with it from time to time; but I keep getting an error saying there is one. I didn't have a scanner to determine what exactly was going on and now I'm having problems, I smell gas when it finally starts and when it doesn't start it acts like it's not getting any gas at all. I've been at it now since I threw away the old one because I thought it worked. Sometimes it

Worth the money for the sensors

Perfect replacement for my old broken TPS sensor. I first noticed terrible throttle response, poor fuel economy and indecisive acceleration, and a check engine light. Run the code and found it was the TPS sensor. Ordered rather than saving for others and it was definitely worth paying the extra money for. It plugged right in and didn't need adjustments, and I immediately noticed a massive improvement in the handling of my Xterra. The Check Engine light was off and I noticed crisp throttle…

Makes your car look brand new

OMG This part is so essential to the smooth running of your car, it's amazing. My Pathfinder started kicking, the transmission shifting erratically and pedaling like a wild Mustang. He did it intermittently and drove me crazy not knowing why he was doing it, as did the various technicians watching my car. After a year of this on/off behavior, the computer issued a test engine code. the light stays on. My Nissan technician said it was my TPS and it was bad. I ordered this Hitachi TPS0006 because

It feels like I'm in a different SUV!

Thought we were considering a thorough transmission overhaul as the Batmobile had some erratic downshifts as well as harsh or abnormal upshifts to the point where it sometimes felt like it was slipping. Erratic downshifts on the freeway were driving me insane. Another symptom was erratic idle and poor throttle response. This went on for several months and got progressively worse. The only 2 trouble codes the ECM gave were for the knock sensor and the oxygen sensor, that's all. From the moment I

OEM part for 2004 Nissan Xterra XE v6

OEM part for 2004 Nissan Xterra XE v6 4x4 although Revain says it doesn't fit. This is a direct replacement. Backstory for DIYers: Months before failure, the throttle sticks randomly and then stutters before the RPM increases, but not CEL (Check Engine Light). Up to this point, the gas mileage was appalling. . There are no store codes or other signs of a problem. At idle, the truck randomly revved up. Again no saved codes. The CEL was slowly moving down the road, working and containing the…
