As our thermometer sees its age, we chose this one for safety reasons. This is our first digital font so we didn't really know what to expect. First, it's very long, which comes in handy when reaching for hot stovetops, pots, or food. But it shines the most when it reaches the oven. The woman is happy about it, she burned herself earlier. length is the best choice. Second, the readings are accurate. We have compared several times to the original we have and we have both experienced 100% accuracy. Setting the exact temperature or stage (medium done, medium, etc.) just got a lot easier, and so far we're on top. We've found the temperature readings to be VERY sensitive - even holding it over something hot changes the temperature. This can be very handy when moving meat to different thicknesses. Third, easy to clean, my wife only does it by hand - no instructions included so we didn't want to risk the digital element. Fourth, storage is easy regardless of length, and it comes with a metal reading element cover. In general we are satisfied and will use it over the old one.
