Review on ๐Ÿ’ก JULLISON Daylight Dimmable Recessed Fixture by James Pfettscher

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Short-term problems (3 years is not enough for LEDs).

Some of these installed when we did a facelift in late 2018. We have some with dimmers and others not. We think they look good, are easy to install and work well with dimmers. Just 3 years and we have 20% of the defaults. I was most concerned that in 10 years there will be these lamps, when will they burn out? I didn't expect that we would replace them in 2.5-3 years. There will always be some sort of regular lightbulb, but they are built into the system so if they go bad you have to replace the entire light. You could only make part of the bulb because the body is metal and you could just screw in a new bulb with wires, but that's not the case. You're buying a brand new fixture and there's no reuse program, so you're wasting a perfect metal finish and plastic diffuser. They could easily reassemble old houses and put in new lightbulbs if they didn't want consumers to do so. Anyway, the first thing that came out was quick with a warranty replacement. The second time I already bought a backup from Amazon, just thought the warranty might take a while. Now I want to replace the 3rd and 4th to see if they do another replacement under warranty but I went ahead and bought more to get the lights back on. The renovation wiring is all new, authorized and the original installation was done by licensed electricians. I change them myself. If you go with them, just buy a pack of 6 or 8 to have on hand when they die. You can't just walk into any store and buy a new lightbulb. When we remodel the bottom floor, I will take normal light bulb glasses, which are easy to buy without having to wait two days or worry that the product will disappear from the market in 10-15 years.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
