Review on πŸ’‘ Enhance Your Lighting Experience with Feit Electric OM100 RGBW Multi Color by David Carclub

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Nice customizable white (but Cree is better). RGB mode is very weak (only 71 lumens)

In all honesty, the similar Cree bulb is much better. It has better white light quality and when you move the watch face, the white light temperature changes gradually in real time as you move it. With a real lightbulb, the color temperature doesn't change until you let go of the knob, and then it suddenly changes. Because of this, it's hard to tell where you actually want to set it because you have to keep lifting your finger up and then it suddenly changes. With Cree you can see it changing so you really get exactly the color temperature that feels right without having to guess. The RGB mode of this feit lamp is also very weak (RGB is the color mode). Cree's RGB lights are also dim, but are actually 2.6 times brighter than Feit's. Another company called "ilumi" makes a bulb with a better RGB mode that is much brighter. The Ilumi lamp can also mix white light with colors and you can change the saturation to get the perfect combination of white and color. I did a test with my exposure meter. I set the Feit and Ilumu bulbs to orange mixed with white light to get the brightest amber light possible. I independently measured both of them exactly 22 inches apart. The Ilumi lamp was 345 lux, the Feit lamp was 38 lux, and the Cree lamp was 99 lux. This means that the Ilumi lamp was 9.1 times brighter than Feit and 3.5 times brighter in RGB mode as a Cree. Cree was 2.6 times brighter than Feit. For comparison, a typical 1100 lumen light bulb produces 590 lux at the same distance, just to give you an idea of relative brightness. Since lumens are proportional to lux, this means that in my test the ilumi lamp emitted around 643 lumens while the feit only emitted 71 lumens. The Cree lamp was illuminated at 99 lux in amber, meaning it emitted 185 lumens. However, the Feit and Cree lamps produce a very bright 1600 lumens in custom white mode, while the ilumi produces only 800 lumens in this mode. The Feit lamp was pretty easy to connect to the app. The Cree was a little tricky because I had to turn on Bluetooth to connect it to the app, but then I was able to turn Bluetooth off and it still worked great over Wi-Fi. In contrast, ilumi's lightbulb app is quite buggy and cumbersome to use, but once you get the lightbulb the way you want it, you can set the default lightbulb color to the currently set color. This stores that color in the bulb, so even in the event of a power outage, the exact RGB settings you want are restored. If you then change the color and turn off the lightbulb, it will revert to the default color and not the last one it was set to. If you want to change a lot, Feit and Cree lightbulb is much easier to use because the app works much better (Cree is the best). Feit and Cree lamps remember your color settings when you turn off the power, but they do so automatically and this is always the last lamp setting. In RGB mode, the Cree bulb is 2.6 times brighter than the Feit bulb and gradually changes color in real time as you move your finger. Don't lose lightbulb. It just suddenly moves when you release your finger. In the custom white mode, the Cree bulb changes the temperature from 2200 Kelvin to 6500. The Feit bulb only goes from 2700 to 6500. The Cree bulb outperforms the Feit bulb in every way. The Cree lamp is also cheaper, currently only $15.01 instead of $19.98 at Revain. So get the cree lightbulb for custom white and for basic rgb and if you want a better app with no bugs. Get an Ilumi bulb if you want the best and brightest RGB mode, but be prepared for a buggy app and you only really need that bulb if you plan on always using a preset color, or if You need the brightest RGB light.
