Review on Kidde KN-COPE-IC Hardwired AC Photoelectric Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Battery Backup by Steven Chiumento

Best Price Photovoltaic/Carbon Monoxide Combo

Easy assembly. Good price. I was deciding between this and First Alert's combined photoelectric/CO detector (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UQW8OS/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER), but the price is about $10 cheaper. for Kidde. I installed two of these in my father-in-law's apartment. Installation was easy. It used to have a 15 year old Firex (FADC #5000) in it, but rewiring is easy. I didn't pay $4.50 for the adapter to avoid having to rewire it since it's so easy. It takes 2 minutes to reconnect, just make sure to disconnect circuit with alarms. I didn't do this a few years ago when I changed 10 alarm clocks in our house but got a few little breaks. Remove the two screws that were attached to the ceiling, remove the connectors on the red (there was a yellow wire on the Firex, and it's used to connect between wired alarms), neutral and hot, and replace the wires with a new kidde . After the connection is made, install a new bracket and connect the wire adapter to the alarm. The trickiest part of the hole problem is screwing the alarm into the mount properly, but that's a problem with all of them. It's loud, it's interactive. It talks to you and tells you if it's a CO or smoke issue. I hope I never have to listen to this except for regular testing.
