Does not work for cabinet hardware

These fasteners are purely decorative. You won't keep the cabinet closed if you pull the handle because the latch doesn't slide far enough. Now I need to attach something else to the inside of the doors to keep them closed like a magnet etc. I like the look of the latches so I leave them on but I want them to work properly.
