Review on Macally Magnetic πŸ“± Car Mount for Phones - by Kevin Apriando

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everyone who drives a car should have a smartphone.

This is a great device for EVERYONE who carries a cell phone so they don't have to hold it while driving. It also positions your phone better than most cars' built-in GPS screens when using the GPS app, as it can be positioned anywhere on the windshield, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to check GPS information. I had a mechanical phone holder with the same flexible neck design on the suction cup, but the grip mechanism broke easily and the foam that kept the phone from slipping out of the "grippers" after about 1 year in the sun. , heat and cold, lost the ability to hold the phone, so the phone ended up slipping out of the mechanics. The magnet on this device is strong enough to hold the phone on the windshield mount without the risk of the phone falling, but it's easy to remove the phone without pulling it straight towards you, but by holding the phone horizontally or move it vertically without first retracting the gripping mechanism. This makes it easier and faster to get out of your car or connect your phone to the system. Using it as a speakerphone lets you see the screen again without taking your eyes off the road. I bought a magnet system that was previously mounted on the air vent, worked great in a rental car that I took on a long trip. However, when I tried to use it in my own car, a Honda Civic, the design of the vent-mounted system had no adjustment, so the angle of the vent tilted the phone 45 degrees away from me. To top it off, there was almost always a reflection making it impossible to see the screen clearly. After trying one, I realized I couldn't use this air vent mounted magnet system in my car. With this new device I was initially a bit concerned about the rigidity of the flexible neck, but it can be altered to put the phone in the optimal position for use. Unlike some systems, it doesn't crack or warp on bumpy roads, making the display easier to read with minimal eye fatigue. The design of the mechanism also allows you to rotate your phone to any position depending on whether you prefer landscape or portrait orientation of your GPS display. is a sticky surface that appears built into the suction cup, which also prevents the suction cup from detaching from the glass. I haven't had it long enough in hot weather to see if it lasts longer (usually when the suction cup doesn't hold up when the car is in the hot sun) but I suppose it should be better than those "Standard" suction cup So far I like this device as there are many ways to prevent screen reflections interfering with what you see. At the same time, I never have to drive with my phone in my hand, so I never do it in violation of the hands-free law. Just for the record, I never use the phone in areas where the law prohibits the use of phones, hands-free or not. To be clear, a dash mount is included, but I haven't tried this since the end is rocky or granular on my dash, so I don't know how long and how tightly the system will "hold" the system in this arrangement becomes.
