Review on ACCUSPLIT Pro Survivor - A601X Stopwatch with Clock and Extra Large Display by Andrew Amzallag

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I liked it despite some problems.

Their website claims it was one of the first digital stopwatches and was said to be the official stopwatch for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Some reviewers complained that it was difficult to figure out how to set the date, time, and calendar, which was true for me, even with instructions that were NOT included. The description of this stopwatch on the ACCUSPLIT website states that instructions are included BUT the listing here on Revain includes a disclaimer emphasizing that instructions are NOT included. Fortunately, Revain's listing includes a link to a PDF of the 2020 instructions. I noticed that the ACCUSPLIT website also has a copy of the 2015 instructions for this stopwatch, which differ slightly from the instructions distinguish this list. It wasn't possible to include the PDFs of the two manuals in this review, so I've uploaded screenshots of the two manuals; I hope the print is still legible. With a little help from convoluted instructions and a lot of trial and error, I was finally able to program the correct TIME and the numbers that correspond to the month and day into this device so that when it's not being used as a stopwatch, it will display the TIME as Watch. And for some reason you can keep the ZEIT unchanged in your mind. You can set the time to be displayed in AM/PM format or 24-hour format. The instructions suggest you go to the ACCUSPLIT website to learn how to replace the battery, which means the claimed "waterproof" feature could be compromised if you're not careful. A search on their website didn't turn up a DESCRIPTION on how to change the battery. The "new" stopwatch I received was DEAD ON ARRIVAL! (Accusplit claims this stopwatch should have a 5 year battery!) As a last resort, before going through the hassle and wasted time of sending it back to Revain and waiting for a replacement, I was given a spare battery. Looking at the back of the stopwatch I noticed 6 very small screws. One reviewer complained that she was unscrewing the screws while trying to change the batteries, so I took the stopwatch to a hardware store to make sure I got the right special little "jeweler's" screwdriver. The screws were fairly tight (probably due to the "waterproof" claim) but luckily with care and overcoming the initial tightening I managed to get all 6 screws out. NOTE: Perform this procedure in a carefully controlled environment, e.g. B. in a white towel (my screws were black) to make sure the small screws don't roll off or get lost! Luckily after putting in a new battery the stopwatch started working again! BUT, after carefully replacing the screws (do not use force, because sometimes the screws seemed to be cross-threaded at first!) I purposely did NOT overtighten the screws after the replacement to avoid stripping them. The claimed "water resistance" is probably broken now, but I have no plans to drop it in the water! A sticker on the back of this watch noted in very small type that the warranty was valid until October 2021. After that, if you pay $12, it will be fixed until October 2025. This stopwatch has been sitting on a shelf in a warehouse for several years? Despite all that, I still like this stopwatch as I don't plan on using it for athletic competitions. I will use it while watching specific TV shows on different streaming TV channels to calculate the length of the commercials they insert into the TV show to see if a specific streaming channel compares to others Adds more ads to streaming channels. TV channel!
