Review on BEKER Pigtail Connectors Security Lighting by Paul Powell

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Far from 18 gauge! Looks more like a 28 to me.

They are mostly good and I have over a dozen of these in various low power projects. However, I recently installed some large LED strips and used one of them to power them. The total current is about six amps and I thought that was probably a bit optimistic for 18 gauge wire which is usually listed as 4 to 10 amps depending on many factors. Temperature. Okay, I think I thought I'd check, it was very hot. So I took a moment to measure the diameter of the wire harness for this and compare it to a 22 gauge wire I have laying around and then compared them to the specs. I twisted all the threads, trying not to crush the bundle with the blades of the caliper. These connectors are about 15k in diameter, which makes them look more like 28 swg than 18. And bearing in mind my measurements are a little rough, a 22 gauge wire harness processed the same way measures 25k, which is much more reasonable compared to the quoted 28,000 for this caliber. So if you're happy with the 28 SWG connector, these are great easy to use good connectors, well built at first glance, but if you think you need 18 SWG for your project's current needs, don't even think about it. (No, I have not asked for a refund or returned it as I have found that most of my projects have much lower power requirements and for that purpose they work well and I have already used most of the package when this one came High fidelity project therefore).

Pros
  • A simple DC solution compatible with all CCTV systems and other 5.5*2.1mm DC devices such as partial lights or LED strips.
Cons
  • Expensive
