This tail light is great. I won't go into all the settings, but it should have a blink rate that will satisfy almost everyone. And yes, it's bright, really bright. In terms of setup, here's what you have. 1) A power button that you press briefly to turn the device on or off. It is also a low battery/charging indicator. This is a button that allows you to change the display of the taillights (from full flashing to different flashing rates). It flashes when charging and lights up when fully charged. 2) Tail light (the part you bought it for). Yes, it is light - yes, I repeat myself. 3) On the opposite side of the on/off switch is the micro USB charging port. The device comes with a rubber clip that wraps around the seat post. The tail light itself has a clip that fits into a rubber clip. The clamp on the lantern is weak and should not be trusted. My solution is to use a little velcro. I glued velcro to the flashlight itself behind the clip. Then I attach the other side of the Velcro to whatever I want to attach the light to. To install the flashlight, I slide a piece of paper between the clip and the Velcro on the flashlight. This allows me to focus the light on what I want to attach it to. Once it's fully tightened, I pull out the paper, which allows the velcro to attach. As soon as this has happened, nothing stands in the way of the free swinging of the light. I really like this light. At the moment I highly recommend it.
