The spring of this device is too strong. The spring is ideal as it presses the wipes against the heating element and is located at the top of the lid. The bad thing is that you can't get the napkins out without tearing them. Opening the lid works, but it's tricky when you're holding a baby with one hand and trying not to burn yourself on a hot lip. We took out the spring unless it was clogged with napkins, the napkins don't touch the top part where the heater is. If I could, I'd revert this block to something with the entire heating surface, not just the top.
