Review on Compact Countertop Dishwasher, 6 Place Settings, White by BLACK+DECKER - BCD6W by Christopher Kanter

When I first bought this it seemed like a fantastically compact dishwashing detergent. We were able to wash about 1/3 of the dishes in it in the same time as a full load in a large washing machine, but given the countertop design, that was fine. Well, as I had hoped, the dishes stayed consistently clean for the 3 months it was working. After 3 months we encountered an E4 error which indicated an internal leak in the machine causing water to leak from the bottom of the washing machine onto our countertops. As the warranty is still pending we contacted the third party warranty service listed in the manual, explained the situation and the error code, went through some troubleshooting steps and finally determined that it was a faulty unit which they would replace once it was shipped in the post . Here's my info, a sticker with the car's serial number, and a power cord that I had to physically cut, rendering the car inoperable. It has been almost a month since they received the items. (confirmed by phone on subsequent calls) and has not yet received a replacement, nor any information on how long it will take for a replacement to be delivered. several months since original shipment and several phone calls to the warranty department. The replacement must have been an older, refurbished one (it had a sour food odor when it was put up that my original didn't have). He worked relatively well for most of his life. However, the effectiveness has decreased significantly since the first application. Almost all of the dishes were washed well on first use. But now, more than a year later, despite proper care and regular cleaning, more than half of the dishes are not fully cleaned in each cycle. Most dishes still have food residue and leftovers even after the pre-wash. We tried different detergent brands as well as different programs/modes available on the machine. I am disappointed with the purchase. Because of this article, I expected more durability and efficiency. But for now, I'll continue to prewash the dishes before the dishwasher, but at this point - what's the point of having a dishwasher?
