I bought 8 inch speakers and am incredibly impressed. As a sound freak, I can say that I did not expect the sound quality I would get from these speakers at all. They can certainly be used as standalone 2.1 stereo speakers. However, I use them in a 6.2 setup and they sound incredibly clear. Wasn't necessary, but they sound better with boxes. I would say they would look great on the wall but my ceiling is wide open and the box sounds better than an infinity baffle. Thanks Monoprice, this speaker is fantastic!
