This fixture was pretty easy to install. A few tips: be prepared if you plan on installing this yourself and if you plan to trim the wires to the intended height. Be sure to purchase or own an electrical cutting/stripping tool. If you're working alone, I find it easiest to wrap the ground wire around the mounting plate so the bracket hangs from the plate with the ground wire attached to the bracket. This way I was able to make all the electrical connections without trying to hold the light fixture at the same time. I just left the ground wire wrapped around the panel and connected it to the ground screw and ground in the ceiling box. The photos show mine with only one of the 12" bottom bars. The bottom 12" bars have a removable threaded part, so yes you can attach it to the lamp socket area, just remove the threaded part. out of the tube and that's it. I almost used the shortest part of the lower link thinking that would be my only choice, but the height wasn't what I wanted and luckily I looked at the taller lower links and found that the threaded end was fine may be removable. I think the installation instructions could have been better, but given the price and the fact that I already knew how to change bulbs, it wasn't too bad.
