Review on Diamond Jubapoz Selector Gemstone Testing by Amber Perez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not a toy - really works!

This little diamond tester was a godsend to me. I inherited my mother's jewelry collection when she died and I had no idea what real jewelry was and what costume jewelry was. At first I thought something so cheap couldn't work. However, this is true – and not just for diamonds. It can determine the authenticity of diamonds and other precious stones such as rubies, sapphires, jade and agate. Stone testing instructions are included in the box with the device. There are actually more instructions on the product description page on the internet. I also watched an online video to see how this item should work. This kit includes the Diamond Selector II tool, loose stone test tray, tool tip case and carrying case. The only thing not included is a 9 volt battery. The instructions will show you how to set up this tool based on stone size and ambient temperature/humidity. He will teach you how to hold the tool and how to properly press the tip of the tool against the stone. It also teaches you what to look for in the instrument's response to determine if a stone is genuine or not. If you get slow beeps in response, the tool is reacting to the quality of the stone. If the tool beeps frequently, you may have placed the tip of the tool on the metal socket surrounding the stone rather than on the stone itself. First, I checked some of my mom's things that I knew were real. I got absolutely accurate answer from Diamond Selector II. A few tips I learned from the video was to make sure the stone is absolutely clean before testing it. I just used some dish soap and water, although jewelry cleaner works too. You must also wait for the battery tester to warm up (about 30 seconds) before using it. The online product description page contains some information that is not contained in the written instructions that came with the product. I highly recommend reading the online information, written information and online video on how this element works. It's actually pretty easy when you have all the information you need. One point that can cause a bit of confusion is that only two of the three red lights actually work. A light comes on when you turn on the cell to check the battery. Another light comes on when the object is heated. The upper display next to the word "diamond" (diameter) is not designed for use with this model of diamond tester. This does not affect the function of this element in any way. You can tell if you have a real diamond by how far the indicators on the scale light up and by the beep. This is great value for an item like this and you can learn more about your jewelry. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
