For using a flash drive on my phone they are great. I also use one as a wired mouse adapter on my laptop. The laptop ran out of open USB-A ports, so I use it to connect a mouse to a USB-C port. The adapters I got have a slight difference between the two. For an adapter, if you place the larger end of USB A on a table, the USB C connector will be on the edge. The other adapter has the USB-C connector on the table as well as the USB-A end. See attached picture. This looks intentional, and while I can't immediately think of an advantage, maybe someone else could. The adapters look like a high quality product with an aluminum cap on the ends and a braided nylon sleeve over the cable. I don't think they will ever be abused so should last quite a while.
