Crazy to use a piece of rubber on the gas cap that is not suitable for fuel! They did that here. I bought mine in December during the snowy months. Capped it on and it fitted perfectly, the threading was perfect and the seal was great. Go to past return period. I poured some gasoline into the tank and the gasket softened and immediately broke. If you are in the same situation as me, I found a solution. Although a bit expensive for a petrol tank. $20 for the cap plus $10 for a piece of fuel safe rubber. Found it here at Revain, it's 1/8 inch thick and easy to cut with a good pair of scissors. It will stretch out a bit but stay together. Cut something and you're done. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0075DXNTA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
