Review on NETGEAR Wi Fi Range Extender EX8000 by Nathan Akers

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Very unreliable signal! (Upgraded to this Mesh Extender and works the same as the previous NG Extender)

This is my second Netgear Extender. The previous model (AC1900 Nighthawk) worked well for several months. After about a year of turning Wi-Fi on and off again, I upgraded to this X65 mesh model to permanently fix this issue. This new extender worked for a few months, then its performance began to deteriorate as well. Decided to replace it under warranty. The new mesh extender I got didn't have a good 2.4GHz signal to begin with, but the 5.0GHz signal was "good", so I have all my devices at its end of the house switched to the 5gb band which is totally PITA on my Bose speakers and a few other devices. A few days later the 5.0 signal was weak and disappeared as well. Meanwhile, my old TP-Link router worked fine all along; All Wi-Fi devices in range of this router (at this end of the house) had no signal loss issues. So after spending almost $400 on Netgear extenders, I think I'll look at the TP-Link model and hope it's as reliable as their router. Moral of the story: don't buy Netgear hardware. especially if you have a big house that needs a strong signal!
