Review on 🚲 Magna Kids Bike Boys 16 Inch Wheels: Training Wheels, Yellow/Green/Red, Ages 4 & Up by Richard Gallagher

Bought this bike for my 4 year old son (size 42 inches) ) as his first bike after graduating from the tricycle. I chose this bike because unless you're spending over $150 on a kid's first bike (which is crazy), they're all essentially the same. The cost difference is in the range of less than $150. Licensing for film/tv characters, one or both handbrakes (which are always of such lousy quality that they become unusable after a few weeks if they were ever very useful at all) and a trademark (e.g. the company from it actually in the quality bicycles for adults are preserved). Take all of those things away and you get a $60 bike like this. They do and you have to browse through and find one that fits BMX bikes. Even so, the instructions are fairly general. If you've never owned a bike before and have had to make adjustments, you might have a few moments where you scratch your head. But if you've worked on your bike before, even as a hobbyist, then you should be fine as most of the bike is already assembled. You'll need the front wheel, pedals (make sure left and right are correct so you don't rip the strings), seat (which is already attached to the post), handlebars (which are already attached to the post). stem) and training wheels (which are also pre-assembled). You will need a 15mm spanner and a 13mm spanner. Be aware that you will need open ended pedal wrenches as a socket wrench will not fit and pliers are cumbersome at best. My bike was missing one of the bolts that attach the bike chain guard to the frame. Luckily I have a small arsenal of nuts and bolts and was able to find a #4 machine screw, nut and washers to save the day. Otherwise I would have had to go to the hardware store, which would have annoyed me a lot. While it's no big deal, no product should NEVER come with missing parts, which is why I'm deducting a star for that. There were no bent, scratched, or otherwise damaged parts. I checked all the pre-installed nuts for tightness and they were all tight, but I could have tightened them a bit more. Quality: This is a $59 bike. The fact that you can make a bike so cheaply blows my mind, so I didn't have high expectations other than that it would work. It does. This is not a sport bike, it is designed for a small child who most likely cannot hit 10mph. I was actually quite surprised that there were no paint defects or welds and everything seemed really solid. But this is where you'll realize that this isn't a $200 bike: at heart, not all bearings are the best. The steering wheel turns normally, but it's not like my bike - you feel a very subtle resistance. The pedals don't spin freely on the cranks - they spin, but when you click them they don't make a few turns. Wheels don't spin forever, but they spin well enough for a small child. There is a very subtle scratching noise when the rear wheel rolls out, which I noticed during assembly, but is too quiet to hear during operation. The reality is that IF you're the kind of person who can strip a bike down to its foundations and rebuild it from scratch, then you can make improvements by repackaging bearings and the like. But honestly I don't think a typical 4 to 7 year old could tell the difference. And again, this is a $59 bike! Training wheels are often the weakest part of a kid's bike and are pretty solid, I'm happy to report. I doubt they will bend with use. They're also adjustable, as you'd expect, so you can start when the bike is ALMOST a four wheeler and gradually raise them over time as the kids get their balance under control. outlet when he saw it.
