Review on Blue Yeti USB Microphone Slate by Janis Kronbergs ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product, a pleasure to use.

The overall impressions are very favorable: you can fine-tune the sensitivity and direction by listening to yourself through the attached headphones, you can mute the sound with a dedicated button and tell that the sound is still muted by the diode's state (blinking), it's very stable, and it looks good. The microphone's headphone jack is sometimes misrepresented in reviews as being used primarily for monitoring the quality of the microphone. I frequently make advantage of this feature, as it allows me to simultaneously monitor my own voice, the computer, and my conversation partners. While you can disable the microphone and cease hearing your own voice, your conversation partners will also stop hearing you if you do so. But until you learn to write and converse, you can just use it as a headphone extension.

Pros
  • Excellent sound, simple controls, and a stylish design
Cons
  • Even in cardioid mode, it picks up a lot of ambient sound (albeit the space isn't set up properly, so it's probably not his fault).
