Why buy this scale over the cheaper ones

I just received this scale and I love it. there was no power supply. You had to use the batteries and it's annoying when they run out in the middle of weighing, need to charge etc. It turns off after 3 minutes of non-use and that causes problems. Sometimes I would spend too much time chopping vegetables or doing something else and he would pass out and lose weight. Now and then I had to touch the scale to keep it from going off. The need to cater to the whims of the device is no fun. I bought the Escali Alimento with a power adapter and it only turns off when YOU are done with it and you turn it off. If you use batteries, it has an automatic shutdown. At Escali Alimento you have a choice of ounces, pounds and ounces, digital pounds and grams. This is good because you don't need to use a calculator to convert pounds and ounces to digital pounds etc. My cheaper scales had fewer weight unit options. The Escali Alimento weighing platform is removable. So you can take it off to clean it. With my cheaper scale, the weighing surface didn't come off, I risked getting water on the scale. Maybe that's why he starts acting weird after a while. Therefore scales with a removable plate last longer. Escali Alimento has hidden buttons. This way food or liquids don't get into the area around the buttons and potentially damage the scale. My cheaper scales didn't have hidden buttons. Because of this, you can get more expensive scales and buy them online as there are cheaper scales in local stores. The only downside I see with the Escali Alimento is that the scale's body is covered in a gray plastic shell that's obviously trying to look like metal, but it really isn't. So it doesn't look as nice as it could.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Some difficulties
