If you have frequent power outages and/or live in windy areas I would highly recommend this pump. I live in Louisiana and we are prone to severe thunderstorms, tropical storms and hurricanes. This pump runs on electricity and keeps the internal battery charged. When the device is turned off, the internal battery turns on without delay. There are also internal slots for D-type batteries should they be needed after the main battery dies. Well satisfied with this product. I connected 2 Hydro IV Pro sponge filters. Works perfectly !
