Unusual switch placement

The switch is on a long cable at the top of the unit. The slot at the top allows you to connect the cord to the switch, but it still takes a lot of water to turn the pump on. I believe this is an unfortunate switch design. I moved to the center of the pump using a clamp and screw on the pump. Also, there is no cage to protect the impeller from stones, dirt and pump clogging. I improvised building a cage to provide some protection. In addition to these problems, the device pumps a large volume of water.
