This is my first time using an infrared thermometer so I don't know what to compare it to. I have tested it several times on 5 people aged 40 to 7 years. Each reading was a forehead reading. Among those tested, it was within 0.5 or less of each temperature for that individual. It's a really good size and weight. The digital output is clear and easy to read. There is a sticker on the front of the box that says you need to scan your palm to calibrate the readings. I have a feeling this can easily be overlooked. I don't know how important that is to the accuracy of the readings. Batteries are not included, although the instructions say batteries are included. This should be corrected. I already had batteries so it wasn't a big issue for me but I saw it would bother others. They check the temperature at my local recovery center. I want to test this reader against them to see how they compare. So far everything indicates that this is a great thermometer and I plan to use it frequently. I've wanted one for a long time since the pandemic started and I'm glad I have it.
