Review on ๐Ÿงถ Stanwood Needlecraft Wooden Umbrella Swift - Medium: Perfect Yarn Winder for Effortless Crafting and Tangle-Free Knitting by Dawn Fischer

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Very nice Swift, needs some work.

This is my first Swift and it was very easy to use for someone with no experience in customization and learning. I had several fine skeins of Malabrigo Rios, but I only wound them as needed as winding skeins takes a lot of effort. This quickly streamlined the process and I have all my skeins ready in less than ten minutes! Most yarn stores have a sweater and ball winder for customers, but for those who need to buy yarn online, having a yarn is incredibly handy. Initially, the device makes some howling noises as it starts spinning, but once it starts spinning, the noise stops. I also have a bit of trouble opening/lifting the "umbrella" when it's tightly closed, so I have to spread my arms slightly before I can lift the part that opens the "umbrella". Sorry I don't know the names of all the parts! I'm a little worried about how long the wood screws will last, especially the big one at the base, so I tried not to over-tighten them. Note that the wood is untreated so you can rub some mineral oil on it as a finish. I hope the noise stops once I smear it!

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
