Firstly, I didn't get an Alpine R-S69, I got an Alpine R-S69.2. Normally I would have been happy with this "upgrade" but this version has changed the cone and tweeter materials and they don't sound nearly as good as my SPR-69. I wanted to replace my burned out SPR-69s with a speaker made from the same material to match all my speakers and keep the phenomenal sound, but as they were the main speakers in the front doors of my truck they fell a bit short. I even gave them some time to break in hoping they would sound better, but they just don't work for me. Basically, the bass just isn't on par with my other speakers. It doesn't sound as strong and clear as my original speakers. Very disappointed.
