Just bought a SunSun filter and looking for a mechanical cleaner? This is the normal option. However, what you really need to do is learn a little about how the filter media is supposed to work. Mechanical filtration is only part of the solution and if you don't do anything other than do the mechanical filtration, you could short out yourself or add other debris to your tank that you don't really need. This is definitely a decent mid-tier for a multi-stage canister filter. However, I did not find enough variety in the thickness of the gaskets in this package to satisfy all my needs. I like to run my 3-stage filter like this: lava stone at the bottom, ceramic rings in the middle, purigen gradient, medium and thin pads at the top. When I first received this set I checked them all. I mean ALL. All layers were filtered mechanically, greatly reducing the performance of my pump. I didn't move much water at all. I now have a fast flow of lava rock that stops almost all solid debris, and the seals come out pretty darn clean every time I clean the filter, which happens once a month. I also found that they fit. Nothing fancy or anything and I actually like the ones that are a little oversized so I usually buy a large folded pack of sponge to cut to size.
